Hi, everybody. My name is John Fischer. Welcome to salesleads.TV. What is an accredited investor? Gee, John, I don’t know if my parrot smokey. My African grade downstairs was here. He was given to you because he’s heard me say this so many times.
I’m just really, really surprised that he can’t parrot it back to me. An accredited investor definition, according to the FCC, is someone who makes $200,000 a year the last two years, or $300,000 combined million net worth, not including their home and experience in managing their personal portfolio.
That is the definition of an accredited investor. Now, at Salesweek TV, we go a step further. The people that we buy, the leads from our broker dealers, they’re vetting people for reg 506 C. They want the guy to be accredited.
So not only do they ask those questions, they also say, hey, by the way, what’s a comfortable entry level for you for a first time investment? 25, 50, or 100. And they say, by the way, is that risk capital?
You don’t want these people investing their kids college fund or anything like that. And then they mail them a private place of memorandum. So I got to tell you something. When it comes to me selling you a product that’s been put through the ringer and ask that many questions, it just doesn’t get any better.
So you got the basic SEC definition of your credit investor, and then you have the rest of you, as someone promoting a private placement, should make sure that he has the money, that it’s liquid, that it’s risk capital.
You know, find out who makes the decision so he doesn’t know. Well, I have to check with the baker, the candlestick maker, and my wife before we can do anything. Find out ahead of time who makes decisions or slip away or slip out the back.
Jack you know, there’s a whole art to closing, and it’s been lost. It really has. It’s just terrible. I never qualified people. I always disqualified people. I always, as a broker, always look for the reason why I shouldn’t.
